We cannot see in others what has not existed within ourselves.
Your shadow will project onto others what you DENY in yourself.

PLEASE read that again, 3 times and let it integrate with your thoughts.

If you judge, complain, are critical, blame or pick others to pieces that’s your shadow making an appearance. These behaviours are a mirror of the things within ourselves that we try to hide away from the world. We do our best to convince ourselves that “that person's behaviour is terrible, I would never do that” and then project it onto others.

In reality these very things exist inside of us, but we have done an exceptional job at hiding them. We have spent so many years covering up everything we are ashamed of, and I hate to be the one who tells you, but these behaviours started in your childhood.

The first time someone hurt you, bullied you, made you feel ashamed and picked on you, you automatically shoved it into your shadow. You didn’t need to think about it, or what just happened. As the years went on and life progressed, a little more was added, more and more to this darker side.

Do you remember being rejected, embarrassed, criticised, bullied, assaulted even, emotionally wounded? Down it all went, attaching itself and integrating swimmingly with your shadow.

The older we get the harder we work to suppress and repress these things perceived as inadequacies because they make us feel insecure, embarrassed and judged.

We all do our best to keep repressed our deepest fears from the world, and the people around us, because we are so ashamed of those parts of ourselves. Remember our Mirror-self means that you project your own behaviour and beliefs onto others, for example, The world is your mirror, the perception of your reality is reflected by what you are processing within.

Admittance of the shadow is the first important step in healing. Healing your shadow and becoming comfortable with it. The process does take time for some, yet the outcome of shadow work can heal parts of you that were wounded at an early stage of life, and lead you on a path to becoming whole, developing a more holistic perception of yourself.
